Atlanta finishes 2009 with office space vacancies over 20 percent. High, but not quite as high as the 25 percent vacancy rate in 2004. This could be the opportune moment to make that move to relocate your business or renegotiate your lease with your landlord.

Commercial Real Estate Opportunity in Atlanta

ATLANTA SUSTAINED BUILDING ORDINANCE TABLED

As proposed, the Atlanta Sustained Building Ordinance would have crippled the commercial real estate industry in Atlanta. The proposal mandated expensive retrofits of building systems, required all new and existing buildings to become compliant with LEED or similar green building standards, created costly and time-consuming bureaucratic hurdles, and contained no incentives to offset the expensive mandates that would have become effective in 2010. If the original proposal had become law, it would have stifled economic growth and driven existing tenants and economic development opportunities out of the city.
